RR22: Humble & Broken

feat. model: @hambam90

“Get over yourself” - Ginny Tucker.

Ginny is one of my best friends and mentors on this earth. She said this to me in 2007 and it changed my life forever. She spent time with me inspiring me to be others focused. This understanding will rock your world. Be humble and be broken!

Yes, you can still be powerful. You can dominate your space, raise your voice and reshape culture all the while being humble and broken. I can be 1000% confident in what I bring to the table and in all my skills/ abilities while still remaining humble and broken.

So what do I mean by Humble and Broken?

Humble:

“True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.” - Rick Warren

Power comes from within, NOT from any form of external manipulation, oppression or belittlement of someone else. Humility recognizes the value of others and the need to serve others. Humility acknowledges a greater purpose than serving my own selfish desires. When you lead from a place of humility, people will follow. Servant leadership will change the world. When you stand successful on your mountain of failures and reach your hand out to pull someone else up with you… that is humility. “Humble yourself before the Lord and he will lift you up.” - Bible

Broken:

Why would I tell you to be broken? The truth is that we are all broken. We are all missing pieces and all carry immense baggage. Get real with your brokenness. This will become a source of power for you. When you are honest with your shortcomings you will begin to grow and overcome them. This will also shape the type of team you place around you. You’ll be able to discern where you lack and what people will complement you best. It does’t mean be stuck your brokenness… it just means to honestly reflect on where you need growth and to be devoted throughout your life to constantly improve.

Yes, be the best! Yes, tell the world! Yes, dominate your space. But do it with a great love for others and an honest view of yourself. This will only get you to your destination faster and with an unstoppable team.

I have no other path than humility as I owe everything I am to God above and to the incredible people who have helped shape who I am today: People who were honest with me, who encouraged me and also spoke hard truths when I needed them most. I have come face to face with my deepest & darkest brokenness. I make it a consistent practice to understand it and and to learn from it. It’s an embracing of my darkness in grace and a running hard toward the light. You have to let go and choose new life every single day.

"But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3"

If you’re struggling with humility and/or brokenness please reach out to me or any Revo team member and we would love to encourage you and to help you any way that we can.

In conclusion, lift up others and “get over yourself”. We all know you dope!

Get back to your “impact”.

Let’s go make waves!
